Word of the Week: Listen
Happy 2020 beautiful MV community!
While I am not really big into setting New Year’s resolutions anymore, I do enjoy setting aside time at the start of a new year for self-reflection. I created a vision board for my personal hopes and dreams, Andrew and I created a joint vision board for the hopes and dreams of our relationship, and I gave myself a ton of space to look back on the previous year and contemplate what I desire to manifest for the next year. Here are some of the questions I asked myself:
What was my favorite memory?
What was the greatest lesson I learned?
When did I feel most in flow?
What felt heavy on my heart?
What was I most proud of?
In what ways did I grow?
In one word, how would I describe 2019?
If 2019 were an image or symbol, what would it be?
And for 2020…
What is my greatest wish for myself?
How can I love myself even more?
What are my three words for 2020?
When we stop fixating on everything we missed out on or all the ways we are falling short, the New Year can actually be such a sweet time to honor all the ups and downs of our journey.
For me, one of the greatest lessons I learned in 2019 was the Universe has a bigger plan for me whether I like it or not. So the less I stop trying to push my own agenda and instead, listen to the lessons I am being taught, the more I will be able to capitalize on the magic she has in store for me.
See, I am someone who tends to overcomplicate things and grips tightly onto my own ideas of what “should” happen. I’ll spend hours spinning my wheels on a project when the Universe is clearly telling me to wait and be guided towards something more aligned. I’ll make excuses for people who I don’t feel good around when the Universe is clearly telling me we aren’t an energetic match. I’ll convince myself to attend an event I don’t want to when the Universe is clearly telling me I should stay at home and rest. Why do I continue to override these gut feelings? Because I am terrified I’ll miss out on something. I’ll miss out on “the next big thing.” I’ll miss out on a friendship that once was. I’ll miss out on a cool networking opportunity.
Here’s the thing though. You’ll never miss out on the things that are meant for you. One way or the other, the Universe will find ways to make it abundantly clear what you are meant to pay attention to. You never have to worry. The more you can take care of yourself, listen to your body, and find time for stillness, the easier it will be to hear those little nudges from the Universe.
And when you are able to co-create with the Universe, life gets a hell of a lot easier.
Ask Yourself: What were your greatest lessons in 2019? What is your greatest wish for yourself in 2020?
Weekly Mantra: I can’t miss what is meant for me.

P.S. Don’t forget! I started a Dear Abby/Dear Sugar-style advice column (and/or podcast!) called Notes from Camp. Think of it like you are writing your BFF a note from camp. Tell me your deepest fears, biggest dreams, soul-whispers, and heartbreaks…and I will respond with as much honesty, compassion, and humanness as I would my BFF. I will be taking submissions on a rolling basis (prioritizing Monday Vibes community members) and compiling responses over the next few weeks…and we will go from there!! Send your note here.
